Reiki is a stream of natural healing, which relies on the transference of healing energy from practitioner to patient by the laying on of hands. During training a reiki practitioner is taught how to use healing symbols to connect themselves, and therefore their patients, to the universal life force.

Reiki practitioners believe that negative beliefs and energies such as fear block the individual from reaching their full potential. These energy blockages also affect the body and health as our life force cannot flow freely.

Areas of the body that have been deprived of energy due to blockages slowly stagnate and become weak and eventually deteriorate. This collapse of vitality in body cells and organs brings disease and illness and healing is achieved through removing blockages and returning the vital flow of life force to these areas.

Healing with reiki is purported to not only aid health but also help the patient over come negative life patterns.
